Roundup: Taking note of a few openings around the D

A trio of openings worth noting, at least in brief:

• Detroit Pub, a new downtown drinking establishment, is open for cocktails. Located in the former Bat Lounge at Brush and Gratiot, the pub is billed as an "Irish sports bar." It is certainly well-located for post-game revelry.

• Just in time for tax season, an H&R Block has set up shop in a newer shopping plaza (one actually built up to the sidewalk, with parking in the rear!). It's just south of Boston Edison; the address is 9033 Woodward Ave. Call 313-875-9020 to make an appointment.

• Rice Bowl is now serving up Asian food -- Japanese, Thai, Korean, Vietnamese and Indonesian -- on the second floor of the Millender Center. The 1,800-square-foot space includes an art gallery. The restaurant uses recycled carryout containers and dine-in dishes have recycled plastic content.

This is the local chain's third Detroit location. Read more here.
