New day spa and tearoom opens Downtown

First-time visitors to Innergy can be forgiven for thinking they accidentally wandered into a living room. That's because proprietors Keli Hearon and Aida Brown intend for their day spa and tearoom to be a home away from home for their clients—and themselves. Brown says: "We love it here; when I leave my house in the morning, it's like leaving home to come home."

Innergy, which opened Feb. 11, is located in a charming two-story brownstone at 639 Beaubien that has been lovingly restored by the two women and their families.

Guests can relax in the first floor tearoom sipping any of six custom blends of fresh loose tea. Two treatment rooms are located upstairs along with the Honor Room, a cozy space intended for clients to enjoy a cup of tea before or after their treatment.

Hearon says that Innergy's cost is often lower than spas of similar levels of service and quality. "We believe that people who most need to be pampered can't always afford it regularly." To this end, facials begin at $45, massage at $60, and manicures at $15.

Hearon and Brown were determined to locate their business downtown because, as Hearon says, "We wanted to be in the heart of it all." Brown adds, "It's the most diverse area of the city, and we want the entire metropolis to be our clientele."

Innergy is open seven days a week, and stays open until 8 p.m. four nights a
week.
