Fifty eight homes to get renovated under $3.07M contract

The Beal Group has received $3,069,179 in contracts to renovate 58 homes in the city of Detroit. There are four separate contracts: one with the city of Detroit, one with Wayne County and two with the Detroit Housing Commission.

The Wayne County and Detroit contracts are through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. They total $1,468,038 and will ultimately renovate 25 homes in Brightmoor. Developer Stewart Beal says his company requested work in Brightmoor because of their familiarity with the neighborhood. "We work with the Motor City Blight Busters," he says, "They assisted in us getting these contracts."

Work on these two contracts is underway.

The two contracts with the Detroit Housing Commission total $1.6 million for the renovation of 33 homes that are scattered around the city. The Beal Group is in the process of purchasing the homes from the agency. Once they are renovated, they will be re-sold to qualified buyers.

Beal expects work to begin on the two DHC contracts as soon as the homes are bought. The company has added 25 employees to its team as a result of landing these four contracts, which will conclude at the end of 2011.
