Textures By Nefertiti, a seven-year staple of Midtown's The Spiral Collective, has launched into its own shop just a block south at 4147 Cass. In her previous space, proprietor Nefertiti had just enough room to work on dreadlocks. In her new home, she has expanded her offerings to include manicures and pedicures, waxing, lashes, facials, a variety of massage types and aromatherapy.
The 1,100-square-foot ground floor space has large windows, into which Nefertiti says, "the sun just kind of rolls in."
Textures by Nefertiti will celebrate its grand opening on June 20 in conjunction with the Second Annual
Willis Village Celebration. Neighboring businesses -- including Avalon International Breads, Re:View
Contemporary Gallery, Curl Up and Dye, Goodwells
Health Food Store/Cafe, Dell Pryor Gallery, Revolution Books, Source
Booksellers and Tulani Rose Gifts -- are joining together to celebrate their growing business district
with music,
acrobatics, children’s activities and food.

The Willis Village Celebration exemplifies Nefertiti's feelings about the area -- and why she moved only steps away from the Spiral when she saw a need to expand. "I like this neighborhood. I'm around the corner from the DIA, around the corner from the hospitals," she says. "I still have the
advantage of being across the street from Avalon, and I am still in a partnership
with other businesses in the area."
