Powerhouse Express Gym has opened its doors in Grandmont Rosedale on Grand River just west of the Southfield Freeway. It occupies the space formerly occupied by Hollywood Video.
Owner Joseph "JB" Braxton worked for Ford Motor Co. for years; he took the recession as a sign he should follow his dream of owning a gym. The doors of his Powerhouse opened on December 1 with a motto of: “Get a
Membership. Get a Great Workout. And Get on with Your Life."
The gym has all new equipment from Precor and Icarian, including weight machines, free weights, ellipticals, treadmills, stationary bikes and AMTs. Braxton plans to install TV sets, mirrors and a health drink bar.
The gym is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.;
Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 313-397-3615. The address is 18230 Grand River.
