Startup News: Quicken's Quizzle moves 15 people downtown

Quizzle, the newest of the Quicken Loans spinoffs, is making the move downtown with the mortgage lending giant this week. That adds up to 15 more jobs in the Compuware building.

Quizzle provides a service that helps people manage their finances and credit scores so they can qualify for a mortgage. It launched its websites in 2008 and became its own company last year. Today it has 500,000 customers, called Quizzlers, and expects to pass the 1 million mark within the next year.

"We started out as a project at Quicken Loans," says Todd Albery, CEO of Quizzle. "We want to help people manage their mortgage."

The company had five employees when it spun out of Quicken Loans last year. Today it has a staff of 15 employees and a couple of interns. It recently hired one of its interns and another of its interns landed a job at Quicken Loans. Albery expects to add another 5-10 positions within the next year.

Quizzle is currently looking to create some partnerships with other Internet companies to expand its reach in the market. Its also planning to expand into more financial planning services so it can provide more comprehensive information to its customers. "There is a great need for people who as some basic questions about financial planning," Albery says.
