Round-up: Big sale, new website for Mezzanine; THC launches lunch; E. Warren farmers market starts

Mezzanine is having an "out with the old, in with the new" clearance sale. Almost everything in the store is marked down -- including furniture, lighting, accessories, tabletop and office accessories. "The idea here is to turn over the merchandise so I can change things up," says owner Joe Posch.

The numbers are dazzling: current merchandise starts at 20 percent off, most furniture is 30 percent off or more, and backstock is 40 percent or more. "There is even a 'make me an offer' section where I just put the original price on something and if you want it, you come up and make me an offer," says Posch. "I might accept your offer, or I'll counter-offer -- it will be like a bazaar in Marrakech."

Posch also revamped the Mezzanine website. "It needed a facelift, so we made it easier to browse through categories and we enabled e-commerce," says Posch. "It's the foundation for broadening Mezzanine's market outside of the metro Detroit area, and a way for potential customers who live further out of downtown to check out what we sell before making a trip downtown."

Mezzanine is on the second floor of 206 E. Grand River at Broadway. Call 313-442-9000.

Trowbridge House of Coffee, better known as THC, has become a go-to Hamtramck bar in just over a year of existence. It has offered limited food since it opened in April 2008, but the kitchen has expanded to a fuller menu that will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily. The menu includes a variety of sandwiches that average about $7 -- including a side or a cup of soup.
