The second floor of 1431 Times Square, between Bagley and Grand River, is downtown's newest pie destination, now that Taste Pizza Bar Experience has opened its doors.
In the three weeks it has been open, general manager William Roberts says, the response has already been "overwhelming." The restaurant has attracted customers by eschewing traditional forms of advertising in favor of guerrilla, club-style marketing tactics, such as passing out fliers at area office and apartment buildings.
Taste offers 17 signature pizzas, ranging in prices from $9 for basic cheese to $21 for the seafood-laden Ocean's 21; the 10-inch specialty pies average about $12. The homemade dessert line features four types of cheesecake.
Taste is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and until 2 a.m. on the weekends. Thursdays and Fridays feature a DJ spinning deep house and acid jazz. Lunch specials are available until 4 p.m. daily. Call 313-962-8700.
