We talk a lot about cultivating startups in Detroit, but how are we doing to help these startups grow? According to a study by the Kauffman Foundation, fast-growing "gazelle" companies make up less than 1 percent of all businesses, yet account for approximately 10 percent of new jobs in any given year. This got our attention.
So let’s learn more about these gazelles. What local businesses have the potential to scale up and create the next generation of jobs in Detroit? Where are they finding capital and resources to grow?
Join us at the newly renovated M@dison Building, the home of Detroit Venture Partners and their growing family of companies, for a conversation about getting from startup to second stage. The program will take place this Wednesday, Feb. 29, 6 p.m. at 1555 Broadway, downtown Detroit.
