New documentary 'Beyond the Motor City' debuts on PBS in February

A new documentary is examining how Detroit fits in the future of transportation in America.

The 90-minute film by Aaron Woolf titled "Blueprint America: Beyond the Motor City" debuts nationally Feb. 8 on PBS. Narrated by Miles O'Brien, it asks whether it is time to fundamentally change the way Americans travel.

The film notes the streetcar system that once crisscrossed the city and Detroit's rise as the Motor City. It also shows how it has been left behind when it comes to developing a modern transportation infrastructure.
