Tour celebrating America's "weird" homes comes to Detroit

We know there's a lot of interesting homes in Detroit. Check out parts one and two in our series on the most interesting homes in Detroit.

But there's also plenty of weird homes in the city. Enough, at least, for Weird Homes Tour to start one in Detroit. Founded in 2014 to celebrate unconventional homes across America, this national brand is having its first tour in Detroit on August 25.

The tour is self-directed—when you purchase a ticket, you're given a map of eight to 10 homes that you can visit at any point throughout the day. "In many cases, the owners are in their homes, available to answer questions and dive deeper into the unique design, decor, and collections found within their walls," according to a press release.

There's also a VIP ticket that provides access to an additional house.

Weird Homes Tour is a triple-bottom line company, and a percentage of the proceeds will go to the United Community Housing Coalition to help support their fight for affordable housing.

The company is also scouting Detroit for potential homes on the tour. If you know of a weird home or would like to offer your own, submit here

The Weird Homes Detroit Tour takes place on Saturday, August 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Purchase tickets here
