Corktown

Detroit's oldest neighborhood, Corktown is located just west of the downtown commercial district, bounded by Michigan Avenue and Porter Street, and the Lodge and 16th Street.

Its historic streets boast Victorian-era row houses, beautifully restored with vibrant colors and careful gardens. The neighborhood is a tight-knit community, with a mix of lifelong residents, young couples and singles. The surrounding entertainment district is among the city's best for nightlife, and one of the bar-hopping venues in town.

While Corktown is easily accessible by car, bus or bicycle, this neighborhood is best explored by foot, lauded as one of the most walkable areas in Detroit.
