Vicente’s Cuban Cuisine

1250 Library St.
Corner of Gratiot and Library

313-962-8800

Vicente’s is located at 1250 Library Street, adjacent to Compuware, an up-and-coming restaurant and theatre attending area. Vazquez wanted to be integrated into this community, but offer something original and dear to his heart, the Cuban experience.  In doing this, all aspects of the restaurant are consistent with his art deco Cuban theme.  This is apparent in the entrance of the restaurant, a waiting area with a host booth welcomed by a hanging glass art deco chandelier and cozy waiting area.  Directly to the right is a café style kiosk where lunch-goers can stop in for a quick snack such as a Cuban sandwich.

The restaurant, in the historic Remick building, is ready to transform to into an intimate breakfast nook, classy evening dinner or a steaming salsa dance bar.  The main section of the restaurant is set atop of a parkay floor, set-off by a half-oval band shell for live music on weekend nights. The restaurant has simplistic square tables and chairs, in keeping with classic Cuban restaurant design, which does not use booths. This area is decorated with mural of Cuba by a local artist on the surrounding walls. The dark wood bar area is accented with flat-screen televisions playing black-and-white I Love Lucy episodes and old Cuban films.
