Baker's Keyboard Lounge

20510 Livernois Ave
Corner of Livernois and 8 Mile

313-345-6300

Detroit’s longest running jazz club got its start back in 1934 and is still swinging strong today.

What you’ll see here (once your eyes adjust to the dim candlelight glow) is a piano-shaped bar complete with faux piano keys, Harry Carew murals depicting famous jazz clubs around the country and a full house almost every night of the week.

What you’ll eat here is delectable soul food, some of the best that we’ve had in a long time (many dishes come complete with your option of two sides including mac & cheese, collard greens, black-eyed peas, yams and more).

And what you’ll hear is some of Detroit’s finest jazz from international and national artists as well as top-rate local talent.

The cozy booths and candlelit tables create the perfect ambiance for both romantics and the avid jazz listener.  Hipsters and old-school jazzheads abound here at Baker’s every day of the week except Mondays – the only day of the week that they’re typically closed.

Be sure to call ahead or check out the events calendar online (www.bakerskeyboardlounge.com) to see who’s playing and to be aware of private parties that can occasionally close the place down to the general public, even on weekends.

And don’t miss the $6 lunch specials offered from 11a.m. – 3p.m. daily.  You might not catch a live show during lunch, but you’ll still catch the overall vibe.

This place looks cool, feels cool and sounds amazing thanks to Italian tile that has the highest acoustic rating in the world.

Some of the world’s finest jazz musicians have played here:  John Coltrane, Oscar Peterson, Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Dave Brubeck, Ella Fitzgerald.

Although you probably won’t cross paths with them these days, you’ll still feel their soul and spirit here at Bakers and you’ll hear jazz that will surpass any in the city.
