Boston Edison Development, Inc.
Boston Edison Development, Inc. ("BEDI") is a non-profit community
housing developer which operates exclusively in the Historic
Boston-Edison District. BEDI was founded and incorporated by attorney
Marilyn Mitchell in June, 1990 after a half-dozen Boston-Edison
residents affiliated with the abandoned housing committee of the
Historic Boston-Edison Association promised to support BEDI with their
time and money. BEDI is a directorship corporation comprised of nine
directors, seven of whom are presently Boston-Edison residents, and all
of whom have rehabilitated at least one older home. Lacking a track
record in housing renovation to show to lenders, BEDI chose a Board
comprised of individuals with credentials and experience necessary for
a successful venture.
