Menlo Innovations is one of the crown jewels of Ann Arbor's new economy, and the man behind it is set to spread the good news about it and how it innovates at TechTown on Nov. 14.

Richard Sheridan, CEO of Menlo Innovations, will discuss the secret sauce of what allows his company to innovate while designing new software. He'll also touch on creating an energetic workplace. His firm uses Thomas Edison's Menlo Park "Invention Factory," which the firm is named after, for inspiration. To see a video on it, click here.

Sheridan has earned quite a bit of buzz in recent years as he has built Menlo Innovations, one of Inc. magazine's 500 fastest growing privately held companies, outside of the normal box of corporate-think. Forbes magazine featured him on its cover, entitling the story about entrepreneurship "Hire Yourself." The Wall Street Journal also featured Menlo Innovations' unique office atmosphere.

The event is sponsored by Wayne State University's Institute for Information Technology and Culture and is part of its speaker series – "This is Dangerous Territory: Social Research Out of Bounds." It will be held at 3 p.m. in the NextEnergy auditorium. For information, contact Cevan Castle at cevan@wayne.edu or at (313) 874-7010.
