MIST Innovations 2nd gen product driving company growth

MIST Innovations expects the second generation of its core product to give the company a second wind when it comes to growth.

The downtown Detroit-based tech firm specializes in delivering surveillance video over the Internet and mobile devices. Its first generation product focused on large surveillance installations with multiple cameras, a product that was as big as it is ambitious. The second generation of that product in leaner and focuses on providing similar surveillance feeds to mobile devices for smaller business. That surveillance product focuses on keeping an eye on things like cash transactions in places like franchise business.

"They use this as a management tool to watch their staffs and their properties," says Craig Capece,
president & CEO of MIST Innovations. "They can keep an eye on all of them all the time."

Capece came on to lead MIST Innovations in June, shortly after the company started to roll out its new product. It now has 50 customers in the Midwest and is in the process of rolling the product out to new markets across North America region by region over the next year. The seven-person firm expects to hire 7-10 people in 2011 on projected big spikes in revenue growth.

"We expect to double in size," Capece says.
