Belle Isle's Anna Scripps Whitcomb conservatory reopened last fall after being closed for renovations. The City of Detroit Recreation Department was awarded a $340,000 matching grant from the Federal Government Save America's Treasures program for restoration of the conservatory's central dome.

The conservatory is run by the Belle Isle Botanical Society, (BIBS), and is a non-profit, volunteer organization created to advance gardening efforts by the City of Detroit on Belle Isle, and to provide educational programs for the public.

Model D photographer Dave Kreiger explores the conservatory in his photo story In Living Color.

The facility is open every day of the year 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 313-852-4065.
