“American Pickers” TV series to visit Cass Ave. developer Joel Landy

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Detroit developer Joel Landy has a lot of stuff. Vintage cars, rock posters, even a model locomotive steam engine that circles his block. If you’re looking for Detroit history, chances are there’s something in his 70,000 sq. ft collection to sate you. The nation will have a chance to explore Landy’s loot later this year, when the cast of The History Channel’s “American Pickers” journeys to the D to visit Landy. What will they find? Will he negotiate? Better watch and find out.

Excerpt:

Landy says he’s ready to make a deal with the pickers. “Of course, they buy at a wholesale price,” he said. “They like to buy cheap so they can make money.” But turning a fat profit from his stash isn’t one of Landy’s concerns. “If they want to buy something,” he says, “I’ll probably go along with it. We’ll see how tough a negotiator I am.”
