Mexicantown

Mexicantown is a neighborhood in Southwest Detroit, located one block north of the Ambassador Bridge. Outsiders flock there for Mexican cuisine at popular restaurants such as Mexican Village, Evie's Tamales, El Zocalo and Xochimilco. Its smaller, family-run taquerias, ethnic grocery stores, tortilla factories and bakeries are also worth a visit, too. Many have more authentic Mexican offerings. Bakeries and shops are located on Bagley, both on the east and west sides of the Interstate 75 service drive, and along Vernor.
