Live 6

Model D's "On the Ground" series gives voice to the residents, business owners, and other community members who make up Detroit's neighborhoods. The Live6 area is composed of four distinct neighborhoods—Bagley, Martin Park, The University District, and Fitzgerald. These communities are home to The University of Detroit Mercy and Marygrove College, as well as a number of beautiful residences and longstanding businesses.

The portion of McNichols Road slated for improvements, from Greenlawn to Livernois Avenue, borders the Fitzgerald and Bagley neighborhoods, two neighborhoods identified by area Realtors as ones to watch for 2020.  

The former Immaculata High School, closed in 1984, will be renovated to house the new high school in Fall 2020.

Detroit’s Fitzgerald Revitalization Project rolls forward — with some bumps along the way

Over the last two years, the community has been home to a special initiative led by the City of Detroit called the Fitzgerald Revitalization Project that’s taking a comprehensive approach to redeveloping the area on a neighborhood level.

New Detroit businesses help to further revitalize McNichols in Live6 corridor

Adding to the emerging development, a new barbecue joint and soon-to-be-opened cluster of businesses, including a bar, promise to bring a flurry of new activity to the Live6 area.

Approximately 144 children ranging in ages from 0 to 5 years old will attend the 28,000-square-foot center, which will feature 12 classrooms, a library, and health therapy rooms. The Inkster-based Starfish Family Services will operate the early childhood education center.
