Speaker Series Tonight at the Magic Stick

This month's speaker series takes on a hot topic: the foreclosure crisis.

The event will be at 5 p.m. June 24 at the Magic Stick inside the Majestic complex on Woodward in Midtown. It's free, but you must sign up in advance. To sign up, send an e-mail here.

We talk to Detroiters getting creative and bold in the face of a mortgage crisis. Local public radio station WDET 101.9 FM will join us to moderate the conversation, in conjunction with their "Facing the Mortgage Crisis" ongoing series.

The speakers will include:
  • Joy Santiago, a Detroit Realtor who has been featured on HGTV programs.
  • Kim Ross-Clayson, president of The Villages CDC, a community development group that serves several East Side neighborhoods.
  • Luther Keith, executive director of ARISE Detroit!, a coalition of nonprofits, many of which are helping individuals and communities deal with foreclosure and neighborhood preservation.
  • James Hamilton, president of the Historic Boston-Edison Association.
  • Sabra Sanzotta, a Realtor with Detroit's Loft Warehouse
Sign in is at 5 p.m., the hour-long program begins at 5:30 p.m., and networking time will follow.

The Model D Speaker Series is sponsored by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.
