On Friday, Feb. 16 this year, four Detroit entrepreneurs told their stories of business ownership at Startup Story Night. Sponsored by Model D and the New Economy Initiative, the second annual event was hosted by Satori Shakoor and her platform The Secret Society of Twisted Storytellers at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.

The second entrepreneur to take the stage was Hamissi Mamba of Baobab Fare, an East African restaurant concept started by Mamba and his wife. In his talk, Mamba talks about his escape from persecution in Burundi, coming to America, and the thrill of winning a $50,000 grant from Hatch Detroit.
