PNC Foundation makes $2.1M in grants to Detroit Public Schools

Detroit Public Schools received $2.1 million in grants from the PNC Foundation to fund new science and arts programs.

Excerpt from Crain’s Detroit Business:

The Detroit Public Schools Foundation,
Detroit Science Center and Music Hall Center for the
Performing Arts
are sharing in the grants awarded as part of “PNC
Grow Up Great,” a 10-year, $100 million initiative to improve early
childhood education.

Beginning in June, DPS plans to offer
science and arts programs for the first time ever in a pilot summer
project that will continue into the school. Following completion of the
pilot, the program will continue for an additional two school years and
will include an independent evaluation of its success, PNC said in a
release.
