Tonight’s Speaker Series: Detroit Declaration public forum & State of the City viewing party
Sign up now for the March 23 Speaker Series event at the Majestic Theatre. We’re hosting the Detroit Declaration’s Forum and State of the City Viewing Party. We’ll listen to the mayor, hear from the Declaration drafters, and hopefully get you talking, too.
Our next speaker series event will be at 5:30 p.m. March 23 at the Majestic Theatre, 4120 Woodward Ave., in Midtown. The event will be a public forum — a political salon, shall we say. We’ll have a discussion moderated by the Detroit Declaration group — really this is the kick off event for them — followed by a viewing of the State of the City and a follow-up discussion after Mayor Bing’s speech. There will be presentations, but we also want the audience to share their ideas, observations and thoughts, as well.
If you are not familiar, the Detroit Declaration is a newly minted organization working to create a unified voice and voting block. Their mission
is to bring together the “growing tide of consensus about what our city
must do differently to thrive.” All of the Detroit Declaration founders are community and civic
leaders. Watch their video below to learn more about the Declaration.
The event is free and open to the public, but we ask that you sign up in advance.
The Model D Speaker Series is sponsored by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, Henry Ford Health Systems, Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center. We thank the Majestic for hosting us again.
