E. Warren celebrates one year of success as business district

East Warren Avenue Business Assoc. will celebrate one year of positive progress at its first annual breakfast on April 22 at 7:30 a.m. The event will be held at one of the district's most stable businesses, the Blue Pointe Restaurant.

Plans for the coming year will be announced and notable achievements will be recognized, including the fact that district occupancy rose from 65% to 71%. Futhermore, 31 jobs were created, $1 million of private funds were invested and $300,000 worth of infrastructure improvements were made.

Other accolades due the corridor include the fact that police foot patrols were established, trash receptacles were installed at bus stops, business directories were printed and 2,000 volunteer hours were accumulated planning and cleaning.

"The Business Association is working on programs to give East Warren a competitive advantage in attracting and retaining businesses and shoppers.” said Bill Swanson, Director of Commercial Revitalization for U-SNAP-BAC and EWABA in a statement. “The breakfast will provide the opportunity for the Business Association and our supporters celebrate and learn about the improvements East Warren Avenue is making."
