A new and improved Better Made store has opened at the potato chip-maker's Gratiot factory. Although customers have always been able to purchase chips on-site, general manager Mike Schena says that the new store "greatly expands what we can offer."
The light-filled space will allow customers to purchase not only Better Made's ptotato chips, but jerky, candy, and gift items like T-shirts and hats. Shena points out the natural synergy between their new retail space and the compnay's
web store. "The two go hand in hand."
Schena and the compnay's president and CEO Salvatore Cipriano also point out growth in the surrounding area as an incentive towards Better Made's investment. While the old store drew regular weekly customers like churches, organizations and
restaurants, they anticipate that the new store will expand their client base.
Cipriano credits Better Made's enduring popularity to their unvarying recipe, high quality product, timely expansions and long-term employees. Better Made has been making potato chips in the city for more than 70 years.
The store is at 10148 Gratiot, between Harper and French Road on the East Side. It's open Monday-Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30. Call 313-925-4774 for more information, or go to
