With a catchy name and a highly visible location to its credit, Curl Up and Dye Salon is preparing to open at the end of the month.
Owners Jennifer Willemsen and Ginny Smith were hoping for a Midtown location, and couldn't be happier with the 1,300-square-foot space they found on the ground floor of the Stuberstone Building. "It was very important for me to be in Midtown," says Willemsen. "But I never thought I'd get this space. It kind of worked out for me."
Willemsen has been a freestyle hair stylist for several years. She has a client roster of over 300 that she has been servicing in homes and on location -- and she eventually reached a point where she needed her own space. "I outgrew myself. I hit my own ceiling," she says.
The salon will have five hairdressers in addition to Willemsen, two manicurists and a high-pressure, stand-up tanning bed.
The Stuberstone is located at 4215 Cass Avenue at Willis St.
