The Habitat Company, property management of Lafayette Towers and Lafayette Pavilion, is sponsoring a Jazz’n July fest on Saturday, July 29 from 3 to 9 p.m.
This second annual summer jazz fest will kick off celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the birth of Lafayette Park. Designed as an ideal urban living space by world-renowned architect Mies van der Rohe, the 78-acre development is a registered historic area that combines high-rise apartment buildings and two-story townhouses within a landscaped green space.
The family-friendly jazz fest will include local artists Sheila Landis, Spirit and GEQ Jazz. Assorted vendors will be selling food and beverages at the free event. The event will take place directly behind Lafayette Towers West, near the corner of Orleans & E. Lafayette.
“This event is designed to bring people down to Lafayette Park and let them know about and the history of the Lafayette area and enjoy it,” said George Basta of the Chicago-based Habitat Company.
The celebration of the 50th anniversary of Lafayette Park will continue with more events coming in September and October.
