Jay & Mike's Urban Grocery Delivery enters downtown market

Two Kales Building residents have started a business shopping for and delivering groceries to Downtown residents lacking wheels...or time. Jay & Mike's Urban Grocery Delivery is now in the test phase with Kales residents only, but the duo of Jason Hall and Michael Sheppard is ready to go public with the service.

For somewhere in the neighborhood of $30, Hall and Sheppard will shop for their customers at Trader Joe's, Kroger's or Whole Foods and deliver the goods direct to their apartment or condominium. "You're not just getting a shopper, you're getting someone who cares about you," says Hall. "If you want spaghetti, you're going to get the healthiest and the best financial choice."

Deliveries are made Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays -- with Saturday trips to Eastern Market making that day particularly produce-heavy. "We're trying to keep it more local, educate people on that," says Hall.

For now, the best way to contact Jay & Mike's is via Facebook, where they have a Jay & Mike's Urban Grocery Delivery fan page.
