A new soul food restaurant, My Sisters and Me, has opened on East Warren east of Cadieux. The menu features a wide range of side dishes, including green beans, collard greens, sweet yams, mashed potatoes, black-eyed peas, pinto beans, corn bread, and macaroni and cheese.
Main dishes include pork chops, catfish, perch, Cornish hens and the house specialty, beef short ribs.
My Sisters and Me has been open in Harper Woods for more than four years. When deciding on a second location, the East Warren corridor was selected because that is where most of the restaurant's patrons resided. "We're just trying to get closer to our customers," says co-owner Bettie Robinson. "We decided to go just a little bit further east."
My Sisters and Me occupies the former Pointe Bar-B-Q, but don't expect the same appearance on the interior, says Robinson. "We made some changes, we wanted a new look."
Robinson says she and her team have been welcomed into the community with open arms. "This neighborhood has been very open and very warm," she says.
My Sisters and Me is located at 17410 E. Warren.
