Town Square Co-op begins $4.5M improvement project

Construction workers are busy making $4.5-million in improvements to the Town Square Co-op in Detroit’s Lafayette Park neighborhood.

Most of the money is being spent on putting new peaked roofs on the co-op’s 30 buildings off St. Aubin Street. The roofs will be at a 6/12 pitch while before the units had flat roofs. New siding, trim and paint will also be added to the homes. The improvement project also will repave the streets and driveways in the co-op and improve the landscaping.

Work on the homes is expected to be finished by July, while the new pavement and landscaping will be complete this fall.
