UIX: The passions of Young Nation

Young Nation is the organizational evolution of Expressions, a small, community-based youth group from southwest Detroit. In 2002, Expressions was formed through the awareness of the potential of youth to pursue their passions. It began by showing youth how to use the things they are passionate about--specifically low riding, aerosol art, and media--as a means toward positive development. Young Nation emerged out of this work, receiving its 501(c)3 status in 2010.

Showing others how to use cultural and developmental competencies together to support youth and communities is Young Nation’s passion. Projects & programs include The Alley Project (TAP) and Inside Southwest Detroit.
