Crain Communications to hire 50 for AutoWeek.com

Crain Communications is embarking on an ambitious expansion with a multi-million dollar investment that is expected to create 50 new jobs.

The Eastern Market-based publisher is spending $3.6 million to expand its AutoWeek.com website. That investment is expected to create about half of those jobs this year with hiring to begin in earnest soon. The openings can be found here.

"They (25 jobs) are all slated for this year, and primarily this quarter" says Colleen Robar, director of corporate communications for Crain Communications.

Crain Communications, the parent company of Crain's Detroit Business, employs 800 people worldwide with 350 of those employees based in Detroit. The company is redesigning and expanding its AutoWeek.com website. Crain Communications was also looking at making this investment at its Chicago facility, but a $443,229 state tax credit over five years courtesy of the Michigan Economic Development Corp convinced the firm to sink its money in Detroit.
