Detroit Office working to bring more businesses to downtown office buildings

Eric "Dusty" Duistermars was inspired by local Detroit realtor Austin Black and his City Living Detroit website. So much so that Duistermars created his own version for office space in the city called Detroit Office.

"There wasn't anything like that on the commercial side," Duistermars says. "The downtown was being underserved from a marketing standpoint."

The nonprofit, now 2 years old, specializes in finding the right downtown space for companies looking to expand in the city. It operates primarily through the Internet and local networking.

Duistermars, Detroit Office's president and a broker with UGL Equis Corp, held a networking event last week in the Globe Building in Greektown. More than 100 people attended.

"I'm trying to educate people about downtown but I'm trying to get them downtown, too," Duistermars says.
