Fill in the Blank Artists: Detroit music crew throws anniversary bash at Park Bar

Feb. 5, 9 p.m.
Josh Dahlberg and Drew Pompa run Blank Artists out of a house in Woodbridge, along with Chris DeVries and Dan Kinney (ministers of finance and operations, respectively). Among other things, they specialize in bringing like-minded friends and fans together into the big tent of future music the old-fashioned way, by practicing hospitality and delivering the promised goods: a tasty blend of techno, house, electro, soul and funk.

But the dance party is not the end all for Blank Artists, which has released original productions and remixes since 2006. The indie label and party machine was launched in early 2005, when Dahlberg was a student at Ferris State. It moved first to Lansing then to Detroit a few years ago.

Blank celebrates five years of good times this Friday, Feb. 5, at downtown's Park Bar. Featuring three bands: Agents of Woe, Innerphonic and Madis One; with DJ sets by Matt Abbott, Dahlberg and Pompa, and a special DJ set by longtime Detroit radio personality Judy Adams. The 21-and-over party starts at 9 p.m. Get there early and load up on incredible edibles at the Bucharest Grill. Cover is $8 before midnight. The Park Bar is at 2040 Park Avenue, Detroit.
