Studio One in Midtown lands new Fat Burger restaurant, apartments 70% leased

A contender to the Detroit burger crown is headed to Midtown: Fat Burger will open at Studio One Apartments this spring. This will be the California-based burger joint’s first Detroit location and its second in Michigan.

Fat Burger opened in 1952 and is known for grilling made-to-order burgers made of 100 percent lean beef that is never stored frozen. The sit-down and to-go restaurant also serves fries, onion rings, hand-scooped ice cream shakes, chili and salads.

Fat Burger will occupy nearly 2,000 square feet next to Fifth Third Bank, meaning that Studio One's retail space will be 67 percent occupied and 100 percent leased when it opens. Fat Burger will join Utrecht Art Supplies, Radio Shack, Biggby Coffee, Starter’s Bar and Grill and another restaurant that is yet to be announced.

In other good news at Studio One, over 70 percent of its 124 market-rate apartments have been leased. The units range from $870 for 650 square feet to $1395 for 1,008 square feet and include secured parking, a fitness center and at least one balcony.
