Festivities tied to the mega-event are going to be A-list all the way. Celebrities including Paris Hilton, Usher and Detroit's own Funk Brothers are vying to host parties or concerts the week before the National Football League's championship game.
Over the next 12 weeks, more than 300 public and private parties are planned leading up to the Feb. 5 sports extravaganza at Ford Field.
Some events, like the Motown Winter Blast in downtown Detroit, will be free and open to the public. Others will require a ticket, some at super-size prices. And then there'll be the ultra-posh, ultra-private get-togethers with admission by invitation only.
The party scene is part of the $300 million in economic activity expected to be generated from the Super Bowl, according to a study by Lawrence Technological University in Southfield.
Most of the parties for the Super Bowl, billed as the world's largest one-day sporting event, will be held in the seven days leading up to the game.
Nearly every downtown Detroit venue, along with many in the suburbs, is booked for Super Bowl-related revelry.
