According to the conference Web page:
The Great Lakes Bioneers Detroit conference will be held on October 14-16, and will provide a robust look at the practical and visionary solutions for our communities. It will include informative talks, performances and incredible locally-grown food.
The themes for the conference will revolve around the topics of health, economics, education, food and more.
The goals for the conference are:
• To tap the power and richness of Metro Detroit’s diversity, inviting people to come together as a learning community, and commit to new ways of living, acting and thinking that build sustainable community
• To provide individuals and groups already committed to and focused on sustainable transformative ideas, education and action in Detroit a synergistic space in which to network and connect for the sake of the common good
• To collaborate with four Detroit colleges/universities to promote Bioneers vision and values
• To nurture a deeper understanding of a ‘sense of place’ and foster new awareness of our essential interconnectedness
• To ensure that the conference is relevant for urban residents and enables the participation of low income people.
