If all goes as planned, and the money is used to purchase additional land along the river for walkways, parks and other waterside attractions, as well as towards the creation of a RiverWalk that will span from the Belle Isle Bridge to the Ambassador Bridge, this just could be one of the most significant developments in Detroit's history.
"The RiverWalk and surrounding green spaces will be designed to include outdoor dining, children's playscapes, art fairs and fishing areas. Concessions and restrooms will be located throughout this pathway. Detroit's history dating back to the early 1700s will be shared in a series of interpretive plazas, focusing on areas of Riverfront that were home to the ribbon farms of early settlers", says the press release.
