- The Detroit Institute of Arts on Wednesday announced $54 million in new gifts as part of a new, $180 million capital campaign.
- The bulk of the money from the campaign is expected to cover the museum’s operating costs for the next 10 years.
- The DIA silently launched the new campaign, “Great Art New Start,” in January after closing out its five-year capital effort, which raised $231 million.
- Three main philanthropists are among the lead donors contributing to the $54 million: the late Josephine Ford; Richard Manoogian, chairman and CEO of Taylor-based Masco Corp.; and A. Alfred Taubman, founder and former chairman of Taubman Centers Inc. in Bloomfield Hills.
