The group recently celebrated its anniversary with a fundraiser at Eastern Market. The Metro Times' Michael Jackman sat down with the group's president, Rebecca Salminen Witt.

MT: It's a fascinating story. You've grown from something like an NGO in Detroit for forestry to expanding into food and food systems.

Witt: And there's more. I told you about the kids we've started working with: That program has blossomed into a full workforce development program.
