Excerpts from the article:
The event is to include twice as many restaurants, a snow slide that is twice as big as last year's festival and 10 times the number of ice sculptures as last year. Organizers expect 250,000 people to attend the Feb. 2-5 event.
The layout of the festival will be three times as large as last year.
Dog-sledding, snow-shoeing, bands, figure-skating performances, music and warming areas are part of the plans. Other options: snowmobiling exhibitions, a "Detroit Marketplace" shopping area and a children’s winter-wonderland play area.
Susan Sherer, executive director of the host committee, called the event an important way for the Super Bowl festivities to embrace wintertime.
