Monthly City Living tours to showcase residential developments

City Living Detroit's second annual series of Neighborhood Bus Tours will kick off May 12 with a focus on North Midtown residential developments. The free tours start at 1 p.m. at Campus Martius and will wrap up between 3 and 4 p.m.

This first edition for 2007 will visit The Park Shelton, Art Center Townhomes (pictured), Woodbridge Estates and the Research Lofts. Each development will have a model unit open for viewing and a sales representative on-hand to discuss the development and answer any questions.

The bus ride includes a chance for Inside Detroit to talk about local history and for City Living Detroit to talk about "what's happening in the area, what changes are occurring," explains the organization's president, Austin Black II.

Future tour dates and geographic focuses include:
June 9 - Riverfront
July 14 – Downtown
August 11 – Brush Park
September 8 – South Midtown

Black says that, last year, tour groups were "split between people just curious at what's happening and those looking to buy." Many potential buyers used the entire series of tours to "narrow down developments and neighborhoods, and make their decision from there."

The tours are sponsored by Lasalle Bank, Detroit Home Magazine, The Downtown Collection, Preservation Wayne, the Tourism and Economic Development Council and Detroit Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Registration is available here.
