Riverfront
Condominiums, the 300 Tower of the Riverfront Towers located just west
of Joe Louis Arena, has been converted into 282 luxury condos and will
receive site and building improvements as well as new commercial
vendors.
About 200 of the condo units have been sold during
a period of 11 months. Sixty percent of the original renters purchased
units. There was also a “significant amount of people moving down from
the suburbs,” says Dan Woodworth of Ram Development Co.
The conversion into condos began in
March 2005. Units received new kitchens and baths as well as many
other significant upgrades. Units started at 550 square feet for
$118,000 and went up to over 2,300 square feet for more than $625,000.
Work on site and building improvements, including remodeled
corridors and lobby area and elevators, is expected to start in April.
Additionally, a new restaurant will be opening by the end of February
that will offer pub fare during the day and fine dining in the
evenings. There also will be a revamped upscale grocer that will open
sometime this spring. Both will be located in the club building. The
total cost for this first phase will be more than $10 million.
An announcement for phase two, which would convert the 200 Tower
into condos, is anticipated in the spring. The 100 Tower will remain as
apartments.

Model D erroneously reported the total number of units that had sold.
There are still units available. We regret the error.
