Bricks from 8-Mile history signed by Eminem, to help revitalize the area

Thirty bricks obtained from the Detroit Artillery Armory and autographed by Marshall Mathers (a.k.a. Eminem), are currently being auctioned on eBay (URL).  “Of the 30, only seven bricks remain", says Tami Salisbury, Executive Director, Eight Mile Boulevard Association, whose organization conceptualized this idea, and has helped ship bricks to auction winners in Hiroshima, London, Toronto, Detroit and others.

Proceeds from the auction will be split evenly between the Eight Mile Boulevard Association and the Marshall Mathers Foundation.  'We intend to put our portion right back into revitalizing the area," said Salisbury, 'and our plan is to direct these funds into façade improvements, new gardens, intersection design, and a variety of similar projects".

The Armory is currently being redeveloped by the Schostak Brothers & Co., a Michigan-based real estate firm.   The plan currently is to convert this site into a mixed-use commercial and residential development.
