This Sunday, head to the Majestic for Hubbell Fund fundraiser

This Sunday, February 8, from 4 to 9 p.m., join Model D and friends at the Majestic Theater Complex for the Colin Hubbell Memorial Fundraiser -- there will be music, a bowl-a-thon, a silent auction of Detroit art and a raffle with restaurant gift certificates, weekend getaway packages and free membership to local museums and cultural institutions as prizes.

The purpose of the event is to celebrate Hubbell's passion for Detroit and to raise money for the
Colin Hubbell Fund.

The fund will be managed through the University Cultural Center Association and will award small businesses and entrepreneurs with seed money to grow and expand their business -- or help to start one up. Grants will also be
available to non-profit community organizations to build stronger neighborhoods and more sustainable communities. Additionally, the grant program includes a mentoring component that assists grantees with advice on marketing, financing, business resources and networking.

Potential grantees, including nearly 250 small businesses currently located in Midtown and another 12 opening in 2009, must submit a business plan for review by the fund's advisory board as well as an outlined mid-year benchmark and final report. Information regarding the grant application process will be available on the UCCA website after April 1, 2009.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children 14 and under and $75 family. Admission includes pizza, salad, soda, bowling and shoe rental
. Tickets are available on-line and at theBureau of Urban Living, Traffic Jam & Snug and Pure Detroit at the Guardian Building.
