'Illuminate' event to light up Midtown this weekend

Illuminate Detroit is a one-night event intended to shed some light on what makes Detroit a great place to live.

Guests will converge at  Willys Overland Lofts on Oct. 26 to mingle, enjoy food and drink, view art and listen to some local bands.

"We want to highlight the city in the best way possible and show people what great residential cultural opportunities the city of Detroit has to offer," says event organizer Elizabeth Tintanelli. "It's a positive spin on what the city is doing, in terms of renovation and rejuvenation."

Details:
  • All proceeds will benefit StandUp for Kids, an organization that works with displaced teenagers.
  • Films will be screened and a fashion show will be presented.
The event runs from 7 p.m. to midnight. The lofts are at 4147 Cass Ave., between Willis and Alexandrine. A $10 admission includes one complimentary drink ticket. The event is made possible in part by sponsoring organization Detroit Synergy.
