Upscale Asian headed to Agave corner in Midtown

The vacant restaurant at the corner of Woodward and Canfield, most recently Agave, will soon become an Asian restaurant. It has been leased by Raymond Wong, most recently of the defunct Asian Village, and will serve a variety of Asian cuisines.

Wong hasn't settled on a name yet, but is toying with the idea of calling it Ray Wong's. "I opened Wong's in Windsor in 1973, so everyone knows that name," he says. "I've been doing this a long, long time -- that's why I'd put my name on it."

Wong says his prices will be reasonable to appeal to the Wayne State student population and will include Chinese, sushi, Thai, Indonesian and Korean fare.

He is excited to settle down in Midtown. "This area has quite a bit of potential, -- I see tons of people walking by every day," he says. "I have confidence in the type of food, fresh, reasonably priced...I should have no problem."
