Grandmont
Bordered by Schoolcraft Road, Asbury Park , Grand River, and the Southfield Freeway
This neighborhood of 1200 homes and businesses includes the Detroit Edison Public School (grades K-6) and the newly renovated adjacent park, Ramsay Park. Residents are represented by the Grandmont Community Association (GCA).
GCA is governed by an elected Board of Directors, who meet monthly at the Chaney branch of the Detroit Public Library on Grand River. GCA maintains an attractive web site at www.grandmonitor.org and publishes a monthly newsletter, The Grandmonitor, distributed free to all residents by block captains.
GCA sponsors a number of annual activities, including an Annual Meeting, Clean-Sweep Week, Ramsay Park Clean-Up, a summer Garage Sale, an Arts and Craft Fair in the fall, and a holiday Tour of Lights. GCA also maintains neighborhood signage and advocates for residents with City of Detroit departments for improved services and responses, as well as liaison with the local police precinct. GCA also awards college scholarships to outstanding high school graduates from the neighborhood.
